About Libya

Libya, a country located in North Africa, on the southern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is bordered by Egypt to the east, Sudan to the southeast, Chad and Niger to the south, and Algeria and Tunisia to the west. On the north there are 2000 kilometers of beeches and the Mediterranean Sea. The main cities are: Tripoli (the capital), Benghazi, Sabha, Syrt and Misrata. The area of Libya is 1.760.000 square kilometers and it has over 5 mln inhabitants.

Main tourist attractions of Libya

In the three cities located in the northern and eastern Libya there are ancien ruins dating back to the roman, phoenician and byzantine times. These are: Trypolis (Oea), Leptis Magna i Sabratha. Other ancient ruins can be found in 5 cities of the north-eastern part of the country called pentapolis:  Cyrene, Apollonia (Sousse), Btollems (Ptolemais), Arsinoe (Tocra) and  Eusperides (near modern Benghasi . Being in Libya you can’t miss a trip to the Sahara desert which makes a big part of the Libyan territory. Places such as Fezzan, Ghadames and Ghat are also definitely worth visiting.
